Ultimaker Announces Global Availability of Four New Materials for Professional 3D Printing
Variety of Properties Broaden Offering of Capabilities for Enterprise Market

AMSTERDAM - (1 September, 2016)Ultimaker, the leading open source 3D printer manufacturer, announced today the global offering of four new materials to use for 3D printing using the Ultimaker 2 family of products. Essential for producing the highest level of properties necessary for enterprise-grade outputs, the offerings will expand the breadth and depth of printing options.

There is a growing demand for materials that are specifically optimized for industrial 3D printing. With the introduction of these four new materials, which were previously only available on more expensive platforms, customers are able to manufacture functional prototypes, end-use parts and tools that require high-performance properties like toughness, strength and chemical resistance.

The following new materials offered by Ultimaker are formulated to ensure the highest print quality and cover a wide range of applications:

  • Ultimaker CPE+ (co-polyester) - CPE+ handles temperatures up to 100 ºC, is chemical resistant, tough and dimensionally stable.
  • Ultimaker PC (polycarbonate) - PC offers a great print quality, heat resistance up to 110 ºC, mechanical strength and toughness.
  • Ultimaker Nylon (polyamide) - Nylon is strong, abrasion-resistant, durable and engineered for low moisture sensitivity.
  • Ultimaker TPU 95A (thermoplastic polyurethane) - TPU features a Shore-A hardness of 95 and an elongation of up to 580% at break. It’s suitable for applications that require slight flexibility, wear and tear, and chemical resistance.

“As we continue to revolutionize Ultimaker’s offerings, both with the physical printer capabilities and printing materials, our enterprise customers remain at the center of our reasoning,” said Siert Wijnia, Founder and CTO at Ultimaker. “The four new materials are just the beginning of enhancements we will introduce throughout the remainder of 2016 and we look forward to moving the 3D printing industry forward with impressive innovations.”
